The House Tour

Atelier is your vacation house in Lisbon. A cosy centenary house in the main street of the historical center of Belém.

Called this way because it has been an architectural atelier in the past forty years, it's a first floor house with independent access by stair which can lodge from 1 to 7 guests.

It maintains its primitive plant, where a central corridor leads to these beautifully decorated divisions:

  • Living Room With a Single Bed
  • Bedroom 1 With Double Bed
  • Bedroom 2 With Double Bed
  • Dining Room
  • Bathroom
  • Kitchen
  • Attic With Two Single Beds

Beautiful, cozy, great mix between vintage and modern style. But the best is really its awesome location, just a few steps away (literally) from "Pastéis de Belém" and "Mosteiro dos Jerónimos".

About Belém

Belém is a lisbon district where Tagus river meet the ocean. From here, in the XV century, Portuguese ships demanded for new lands and new sea routes, until then in a total ignorance of a Europe who considered them flat and finite.

From Diogo Cão to Bartolomeu Dias, from Vasco da Gama to Pedro Alvares Cabral, from África to India, from India to Brazil, from Brazil to Japan, it was the Portuguese who first discovered the world we have today, with several languages and habits.

The fascination of new products arriving from new places (spices, sugar, cotton, coffee, gold) called to Belém bourgeois merchants and noblemen converted to commerce. Here they built their houses, enriching this city end that lived from fishing in the river, which then spread all the way to Jerónimos.

The king himself ordered the construction of a palace in here around 1559 (Belém Palace nowadays The Republic Palace). Later on, this part of the city kept its royal attraction, especially after resisted better to the major earthquake that tragically razed the rest of the city in 1755.

The amaze of new things and new faces, the other as oddness, it was us who first redeemed and welcomed. Maybe that’s why we still have today this smiley look and friendly welcoming to those who are foreign.
